Audition Instructions

PLEASE READ

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for King of Drag Season 2! We are thrilled to review your application. We want to celebrate your authentic version of drag, and what drag means to you. We encourage all ages, ethnicities, gender identities and types of drag. Please don’t undermine your achievements or avoid applying because you may have less experience in one of the areas below. If you auditioned for season 1 and were not cast you are encouraged to apply again now. We want to get to know you so please share as much as you are comfortable sharing! 

Show description: 

Ten kings. One crown. King of Drag, presented by e.l.f., is the first ever drag KING competition series: where masculinity meets artistry, swagger meets sequins, and drag kings finally take center stage. Each episode features special guest judges, memorable challenges, and a competition like never before. Season 1 streaming worldwide now on Revry. 

Important note: If you are cast, some of this material may be used in the show.


APPLICATION SUBMISSION DEADLINE:
March 13th, 2026.

FILMING INSTRUCTIONS: 

FRAMING THE SHOT: Refer to framing examples below for how to set up your video. 

LIGHTING: Frontal lighting is always preferred and/or natural light. If using a ring light, not too bright. Make sure no windows are behind you. 

LOCATION: Film at home or somewhere that is meaningful to you. Feel free to embrace your environment. No need to make a home studio. Be creative - you are an artist. The most important thing is you are having fun and feeling good! Avoid filming outdoors so the audio isn’t compromised. 

WARDROBE: PLEASE AVOID WEARING ANY NAME BRANDS WHERE THE LOGO IS VISIBLE. 

AUDIO: Avoid noisy areas with lots of background noise. (i.e. air conditioners, fans, leaf blowers, etc.) We need to hear what you are saying.

Phone/camera Framing Guide: Ensure the Phone or camera is in landscape orientation, not portrait!

CENTER YOURSELF FROM THE WAIST TO THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD SO WE CAN SEE YOU CLEARLY. 

AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS: 

  1. Submit 5 photos of your TOP drag looks you’ve done in the past (i.e close up, full body, selfies). These can be your favorite, wild, raunchy, classy, ridiculous etc. No look is too much! Please share photos that help us get to know your drag style, aesthetic, range, creativity and skill. 

  2. Please film the following video OUT of drag. Wear clothes that express your style and sense of self, and share openly, we want to get to know you! Slate your name (chosen), where you are based, and your drag name and pronouns (in and out of drag). Share with us some of the following- where you grew up, what brought you into drag, what has your drag journey been like, what you love about drag, and how has your community responded to your drag. (Max 5 minutes)

  3. Please film the following video IN DRAG. Introduce us to your drag persona! Tell us who you are, what are the things we HAVE to know about you. This can be improv, a monologue or you can turn this into a bit/skit. if you always use certain props or have any special skills feel free to incorporate them (i.e-juggling, circus, stand up, flair bartending, instruments, gymnastics etc) . (Max 4 minutes)

  4. Please submit a drag reel or previous footage of you performing in drag. It's okay if this content was filmed on a phone, or if it’s not the perfect angle/distance/quality etc. we want to see some of your professional work. (max 3 minutes)

  5. Please film yourself lip-syncing to a song or medley (2 minutes max). Show us what you got! Incorporate your skills and let us get to know your persona and drag essence through this number. You can film in your home environment. Get creative, we are rooting for you!
    (Note: This will not be shared publicly so music licensing does not apply here.) 

  6. Please submit a resume with your work in DRAG. If relevant please include other performing experience (i.e comedy, standup, sketch, dance, circus or any special skills that may be relevant.)
