Taking Your Own Journey with Branden Lee Roth

Branden Lee Roth

In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the queer media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

Branden Lee Roth (He/Him) is a multi-hyphenate creative working both in front of  and behind the scenes. From Worthington, MN he moved to pursue his dreams in Hollywood. After working on a major pilot for HBO that eventually got canned, Branden decided to take his journey into his own hands by writing and developing scripts.

What are you best known for?

Working in several areas of Film/TV, including in front of and behind the camera, I  strive to create captivating content that’s innovative. I have produced award-winning and now  streaming short films that push the envelope on versatility of creativity in a post social media era.  My aesthetic in film is very specific to me. I’m also always pushing to tell stories about the  LGBTQ+ community in new and creative ways.

What is the first thing you worked on professionally?

As an actor, one of the biggest projects I worked on was a pilot for HBO. The show never  aired, but I was given the opportunity to work with some really big names in the industry. After that experience I decided to take my Hollywood journey into my own hands. Through writing  and developing my own scripts I’ve been able to create characters in the LGBTQ+ community  that aren’t solely defined by that. I think creating stories of relatable characters is important for  getting our message out, proving we aren’t that different after all. My characters deal with life just  like any straight leading character would … well, maybe with a touch more fabulousness at least!

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

I’m currently writing my first film, a gay comedy, that will be ready to share soon. Going  through the process of writing a feature rather than a short has been a lot of fun. I’m also in pre-production for a whodunit limited series which I wrote. Being an openly gay story teller I’m  always eager to tell LGBTQ+ characters stories in new and innovative ways.
