Drag Roast and Queens Of Kings Creator, Evan Zampella

Evan Zampella

In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the queer media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

Evan Zampella (He/Him) is a New York-based content creator, director, and producer who has generated content across a spectrum of mediums, including television, new media, music, and film. Evan is the creator of the DRAG ROAST series and the Streamy-nominated series QUEENS OF KINGS, both available on Revry. Evan’s recent production credits include DA FUQ, QUEENS OF KINGS, and TRADE WITH HONEY + DAKOTA.

What are you best known for?

Being a badass, but professionally I’m probably best known for my REVRY Original Series, QUEENS OF KINGS (the series takes a raw look at some of New York City’s brightest drag performers, exploring the intricate duality of performing in drag and the compelling story of the person behind the makeup) and DRAG ROAST (a hilarious compilation of comedy specials featuring a myriad of legendary drag performers, comedians, and LGTBQ+ icons roasting each other in a way only legends can). In addition to the work of my production company, BEEZEE PRODUCTIONS, I also personally manage and produce content for Honey Davenport from RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE SEASON 11.

What is the first thing you worked on professionally?

Before I started my production company I had a record label, SUPER DUPER RECORDS. I had two artists signed to the label and released two CDs/EPs for each artist. Both artists were moderately successful, and one even released a music video that featured Janice Dickinson. It was this music video that was actually my first time producing a video project, and sort of gave me the bug to switch from music to visual production. As far as video production goes, the first series I ever produced was NO YOUR CITY. The series, created by my former business partner (New York Nico), was a docu-series that highlighted some of New York City’s most infamous street characters and the stories beneath the surface.

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

Well if I told you it would spoil the surprise, but I guess I can give a few vague hints. The two projects currently in pre-production that I’m most excited about are a cannabis-themed competition game show and a political round table discussion show. I’m also in the midst of editing the next season of TRADE with Honey Davenport and Dakota Payne, it’s a show featuring a porn star and a drag queen giving sex advice to internet strangers, basically, it’s exactly what the world needs nowadays!
