Expressing Creativity and Passion Through Dance

Torie Balmain

In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the LGBTQ media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

Torie Balmain from the House of Balmain is a Vogue dance style entertainer, commentator, and host. Torie was introduced to the underground ballroom scene in 2012 where he attended his first ball and was so blown away at what he had seen that he immediately fell in love with Ballroom.

Torie was later approached by Father Jamari to join his house and under Jamari’s wing is where he began to study the history of ballroom and the art form of Vogue. He found love and passion for the underground ballroom scene and vogue because it allowed him to express his creativity in ways he couldn’t even imagine.

Torie began to share his creativity with children working at an elementary school and wanted to pay it forward by helping other children find their love and passion in performing as well. After 8 years, that same creativity and passion led him to being casted on Season 1 of the very first Ballroom competition show LEGENDARY on HBO Max. There, he helped create, produce and execute amazing performances alongside his four house members - Father Jamari, Calypso, Cali and Gravity. Torie is still performing, hosting, and sharing his gift with the world.

Torie Balmain performs in Revry’s HOUSE OF PRIDE brought to you by McDonald’s, a virtual celebration of the LGBTQ community featuring Sam Tsui, Shea Diamond, Laganja Estranja and House of Balmain and hosted by Manila Luzon, Ryan Mitchell and Shar Jossell.
