How communicators can help protect LGBTQ+ rights

For Pride Month, The Museum of Public Relations hosted a webinar where panelists grappled with this paradox. These diverse professional communicators worked together to understand how they can help move LGBTQ+ rights forward, especially when big brands like Bud Light, Target and Starbucks are making frequent missteps.

Alia Daniels, co-founder and COO of queer digital media network Revry, Inc., agreed we need to have a real, authentic conversation in the intersectional community, and to have that authentic conversation, you have to be aware of who is in the room—and who isn’t—and open the doors to more people to join.

🏳️‍🌈 “There has to be a real conversation, a real engagement and a real awareness that this is a community that is intersectional,” she said. “This is a community that is inherently multicultural. If you are only viewing this community from one perspective, you are doing yourself and whoever you're trying to represent a complete disservice.”
