‘Is vogue a sport?’ That’s not even the right question to ask
I’m going to start this off by getting ahead of the obvious question that pops up anytime a category of athletic competition that both exists and was born outside of the common cultural confines of sports: Voguing is a sport.
Peruse the Vogues’ Best social media accounts and take in the athleticism on display, the tenacity of battles and the honest-yet-familial atmosphere between competitors. It is difficult to not see the intrinsic values that sports provide as an experience and the competitive nature that comes with tests of athletic prowess.
To me, that makes something a sport.
To others, it may not. Vogue may not appear to be a sport to some now, but that perspective may change as individual people grow and their ideas change.
