Meet Maxie Solters, the Creator of CLIMAX!
In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the LGBTQ media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.
Maxie Solters is a content creator, actor, and producer who enjoys hanging out with her puppy, drinking wine, watching movies, blasting music, and laughing til she cries.
Tired of waiting to book that “career-defining” job as an actress, Maxie was inspired to create, produce, and star in her own web series, CLIMAX!. She strives to bring sexual topics to the forefront without the “taboo” that often surrounds them, in this provocative, hilarious, and seductive show about a sex therapist's pulsating methods, mostly involving vibrators.
A USC School of Theatre graduate, Maxie has trained with the renowned Groundlings, Upright Citizens Brigade, John Rosenfeld, and Lesly Kahn. She recently wrapped season one of hit dramedy web series ADVENTURES IN ONLINE DATING, which is now streaming on Seeka TV. Television credits include “Anger Management” and “After Lately.” Feature film credits include HAVENHURST, JILTED, BLOODY BOBBY, SHARP, AND PROJECT X. Maxie's voice over work can be heard in various commercial spots and the animated series, CHOOCH.
Maxie is also an activist and founded V-Day Studio City in 2009, through which she produces and stars in annual productions of Eve Ensler’s THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, to raise awareness and funds to stop violence against women and girls.
What are you best known for?
You may have heard of my short form comedy series, CLIMAX!, which was globally distributed in partnership with Adam & Eve. I created, starred, and produced the series and it can currently be seen on Revry, YouTube, and Happi TV. I'm also known as the "vagina" queen because of my work with V-Day International and THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES.
What is the first thing you directed?
I first performed as Gretl in THE SOUND OF MUSIC at the ripe old age of five. The entertainment bug bit me and I've been pursuing creative endeavors ever since.
What are you working on that no one knows about yet?
I'm working on a feature film adaptation of the CLIMAX! series. It's been a whirlwind being in pre-production during a pandemic, but we carry on and adapt! This romantic comedy follows the lead character, Dr. Dickmann, and her seemingly perfect life. She’s a successful sex therapist and has a great relationship with her family. But she also has a secret: she’s a virgin. Her orderly, structured life is flipped on its head when she unexpectedly gains the notice of not one, but two men. When her wild child best friend suddenly turns up to top it all off, Sarah is forced to make a choice: leave the safety of her comfort zone or remain stuck in her lackluster (and sexless) life.
