Paige Nielsen

In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the queer media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

Paige Nielsen (She/Her) is from Lincoln, Nebraska, and is now living in Los Angeles. She is a professional soccer player and has been playing for many years. Paige has played for: Seattle Reign FC, Western Sydney Wanderers, Suwon UDC, Canberra United, Washington Spirit, and Angel City FC.

What are you best known for?

I'm best known as a professional soccer player for Angel City FC. I also helped the Washington Spirit win the 2021 NWSL Championship. I also received the Spirit's 2021 Player of the Year Award in addition to being champion. I also strive to be known as a great wife, daughter, friend, and LGBTQ ally to those around me.

What is the first thing you worked on professionally?

I was the first native of Nebraska to be picked by an NWSL team when I was chosen by the Seattle Reign as the 25th overall choice in the 2016 NWSL College Draft. In May of the same year, I joined the team. I soon after made my club debut on May 22 against the Chicago Red Stars.

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

I'm working on a couple of things right now! They are still a surprise, I'm afraid. However, I want to get more involved in the athletic space, utilize my platform to raise awareness of social issues, and keep playing professional soccer.
