In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the LGBTQ media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

AJ Mattioli (He/Him) is a Queens born, Brooklyn based, Trans producer, and director with over 16 years in the entertainment industry. His work has been celebrated at the Queens Museum, The United Nations, The NY Times, The Advocate, Huffington Post, Gay Star News, and Go Magazine! As the go-to Trans producer for queer filmmaking, he’s worked with some of the hottest LGBTQ+ celebs, including Sasha Velour, Shakina Nayfack, Bob The Drag Queen, Cory Wade, Rain Dove, Vincent DePaul, Carmen Carrera, and Miss Fame. According to Times Square Gossip, AJ “could very well be considered the voice of the LGBT community in the independent film world.”

What are you best known for?

I would say my most popular films are KILLER UNICORN and NEON BOYS. Both are set in Brooklyn and filled with NYC nightlife personalities. KILLER UNICORN is a horror film where a sexy man in a Unicorn mask runs around Brooklyn murdering Drag Queens. If you are a horror fan this one's for you. NEON BOYS is a drama centering around a bisexual man trying to figure out his life after being released from prison.

What is the first thing you produced?

The first feature film I ever produced was a lovely rom com titled LADY PEACOCK. This was in 2011. This film is a romance but really shows how a group of friends will help you find love, for yourself and for others.

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

Right now I am in development for a feature titled TWITTERPATED. It is a queer reimagining of CYRANO. We are currently in the casting stage of pre production.
