Jane Clark, the Creator of Crazy Bitches and Meth Head

Jane Clark

In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the LGBTQ media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

Jane is an award-winning filmmaker with 8 shorts, 3 features, 1 VR short and 2 seasons of a short form series behind her. She has worked with actors such as Lukas Haas, David Arquette, Tom Sizemore, Candis Cayne, Necar Zadegan and Wilson Cruz, as well as Emmy-winning sound wizard, Andy D'Addario (MOZART IN THE JUNGLE), Emmy-winning DP Per Larsson (THE AMAZING RACE) and composer Curt Smith (co-founder - Tears for Fears). Her work has been reviewed as “Oscar-nomination worthy, “hypnotizing,” “hauntingly graphic,” “intriguing, provocative and harsh,” “compassionate,” “intelligent,” “well-conceived,” “A-plus,” “well-crafted,” and “infused with a welcome level of depth.”

What are you best known for?

I'm probably best known for CRAZY BITCHES. It began as a feature and was highly pirated - I mean it's hard to resist the title alone! Since the piracy held me back from money for the sequel (I had three planned - Crazy, Crazier and Craziest :) I repurposed the film by recutting it into Season One of a series and shot a Season Two to follow up and both can be found on Revry. (as well as my first feature METH HEAD.) We're currently looking for funds to make a Season Three.

What is the first thing you worked on?

The first thing I made myself was a short film called DOG GONE. I acted in, directed, produced and co-edited the film. I also handled craft service :) The script was written by my husband and based on the true story of our little dog McQueen who was stolen from our yard and the slightly insane lengths we went to get him back. It was the catalyst for me to try my hand behind the camera where I discovered my passion for directing. Because of that and in honor of all he taught us, we named our company after him. You can read the story about it at https://www.filmmcqueen.com/about.

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

I have talked a little bit about a film I wrote with Guinevere Turner called DON'T COME OVER (the tagline is "no seriously, don't.") Guinevere will star and I am currently putting together the rest of the cast. It's a creepy, crazy little psychological horror film with a dark sense of humor. The story is about a romance novelist who has accidentally killed her girlfriend and buries her in the backyard. When you meet her it's been a month and she's struggling to finish the last in her highly popular "The Dukes" series. On a rainy night she is confronted by the woman she blames for her girlfriend's death. Her mind breaks and fantasy and reality mix with deadly results for anyone who comes over.

I am also working with my neighbor, Paul Fox, on another psychological horror film called BENEATH THE SURFACE. We developed it for a year and it's now super tight and ready to make! Paul will star, and I am now trying to figure out the best approach to financing. It's a film about Ben who returns with his boyfriend, Noah, to the lake where his twin brother drowned to scatter the ashes of his father who he is estranged from. Things start going wonky when Noah has to return to Los Angeles for a family emergency and Ben is left alone with his memories.
