In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the LGBTQ media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

Combining pop melodies with R&B and afrobeats, singer-songwriter Nick Eliscu makes honest and heartfelt music. With lyrics drawn from personal experiences, he takes you with him on his journey of self discovery. The native New Yorker started recording music and playing local shows at age 15 while continuing to develop his sound. In 2020, Nick released his music video for “SILENCE” which generated over 40,000 views on YouTube and was an official selection for the QueerX 2020 Film Festival. He's currently working on his upcoming EP set for release in 2022.

What are you best known for?

I love incorporating different parts of my upbringing into my music. I grew up listening to mostly jazz, show tunes and R&B. As a teenager, I would go from pop-punk festivals to rap concerts and house parties playing dancehall. Being exposed to all of these genres allowed me to tap into different forms of songwriting and I think that contrast is reflected in my current sound. I'm heavily influenced by the early 2000's era but ultimately just want to make music that people can dance and relate to.

What is the first song you ever wrote?

I wrote my first song “MY CHERRY COKE” when I was fourteen years old. I recorded it with my band at the time at a studio in Lower Manhattan. This experience ignited my passion for songwriting, the creative process as a whole and made me want to keep going despite the obstacles. Though my pop-punk phase was short lived, experimenting with that genre shaped me to be who I am today.

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

I’m currently working on a music video for my latest single "FANTASY" and recording an EP set for release in 2022. I can't wait to share what I've been working on!
