The World is Your Instrument with Kerrin Connolly

Kerrin Connolly

In this profile series, Revry is highlighting authentic contributors to the queer media and entertainment community. We ask questions to find out who they are and where they are going in the future. The questions remain the same but the answers tell their unique story. It’s time to explore and celebrate true representation beyond the limits of Hollywood.

Kerrin Connolly (She/They) is a DIY indie rock musician based in the greater Boston, MA area. Known globally for their influence on YouTube, Kerrin has spent the last decade uploading covers and original songs from home, utilizing anything from frying pans, toaster ovens, bass ukuleles, and everything in between. The time spent video-editing earned this artist a tight-knit and dedicated community of music-loving nerds (as well as some attention from NPR) but it wasn’t until 2019 when Kerrin released their debut album ALMOST. Since then they have regularly peppered streaming services with self-produced singles all throughout the pandemic, most notably generating buzz with FLY IN MY ROOM, which now has over 1 million streams on Spotify. Fans can look forward to Kerrin's latest EP release, DON'T BE AFRAID for their biggest sound yet.

What are you best known for?

My homemade music videos on YouTube! They're how I got my start and remain a constant outlet for creativity and engagement.

What is the first thing you worked on professionally?

My debut album ALMOST was the first long-term project I really put everything I had into, but I've been producing original music and covers as a profession for years before that.

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

I've got a concept album in the works which explores a classic superhero coming-of-age story, touching on themes such as identity, self-worth, love, and ADHD.
