Alex Sangha is a social worker, documentary film producer, and the Founder of Sher Vancouver which is a registered charity for LGBTQ+ South Asians and friends. His creative path has led him to produce social justice films as an extension of being a trained social worker and shares social justice stories as part of his social activism and social advocacy to shine a light and give voice to the alienated, isolated, marginalized, and vulnerable people of the world, many of whom are suffering in silence.

What are you best known for?

I am best known for my debut feature documentary, EMERGENCE: OUT OF THE SHADOWS. I have an interest in sharing stories that I especially have a lived experience with such as the LGBTQ+ community, people of colour, immigrants, single mothers, victims of violence and abuse, and persons living with mental health challenges and abilities. I completed the Business for Producers program at the prestigious National Screen Institute in Winnipeg, Canada.

What is the first thing you produced?

MY NAME WAS JANUARY which is a short documentary that was the first thing I produced. 

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

I am working on my next feature film tentatively titled, AN IMMIGRANT STORY, which captures and documents the journey of immigrants from different parts of India to different parts of Canada.
