Alyssa Brayboy, the SheEO and Founder of Buttons

Alyssa Brayboy

During Black History Month, Revry is spotlighting the voices of Black creatives. From content creators to executives, we’ve asked questions to those that inspire us to tell us what’s on their mind. The interview questions remain the same throughout, but the answers provide a unique view of every single person.

Alyssa Brayboy is a multi-hyphenate creator and the SheEO and Founder of Buttons, a Black and Latina female-owned production company that focuses on pushing buttons while amplifying underrepresented and diverse voices. Outside of her work with Buttons, Alyssa has been nominated for Best Comedic Performance in the 2021 Best of NFMLA Awards for her role in THE SAFETY PLAN, available on Revry, nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the Maverick Movie Awards for her role in ALREADY LUCKY, and won Best Supporting Actress at the Silicon Beach Film Festival for her role in COYOTE. She is most excited about the recent collaboration between BUTTONS and JRVISION FILMS on their Short Film, 'SHADOW SELF, which just entered the Film Festival Circuit.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

There is no American History without Black History, Black History Month creates focus to broaden society's consciousness of our cultural heritage, achievements, and adversities. Yet, to me Black History Month is bittersweet, it is just another month in my eyes because I walk on the path paved for me by trailblazers every day, with each step, reinforcing and strengthening the foundation.

Who is someone you look to for inspiration?

Charles D. King, Founder & CEO of MACRO continues to create a growing space for creatives of color to share and showcase their authentic voices. As a creative of color, it makes my heart swell to watch the opportunities he is creating for the community and I know one day soon I will be creating alongside him.
