 A native of the Pacific Northwest, Steve Chivers has worked as a writer, actor, producer and director in a variety of genres. He plays a gay man in the 1990s dealing with losing his partner to AIDS in the short film “Mojo Pin,” written and directed by Eli Snyder  He was the host of Raccoon TV's "Talk to Me, LA" on Facebook. He wrote and starred in the short film "Dated" which has been in numerous festivals, including Outfest. "Dated" is now a series on Outfest's new streaming service Outfestnow.com and is also available at www.datedseries.com. Steve's most recent writing projects include launching the highly successful podcast "American Scandal" for Wondery. His multi-part series "American Scandal: Balco" is about the steroid scandal in sports and "American Scandal: The Hare Krishna Murders" explored rampant corruption in a religious cult. He is represented by Five Star Talent Management.

What are you best known for?

I’ve worked as a writer, actor and producer in a variety of genres — comedy, drama, reality/documentary and podcasts. Right now, I’m best known for writing and starring in “Dated” — about an older gay man trying to do online dating during a pandemic.

What is the first thing you ever wrote?

The first thing I ever wrote was a sequel to Charlotte’s Web in the 3rd grade. I finished the book and didn’t want it to be over so I wrote another chapter where they try to barbecue Wilbur since Charlotte isn’t around to save him any more. 

What are you working on that no one knows about yet?

I’m finishing a novel called “STRING THEORY” that will be out in 2022. It’s a story told from 3 POVs - a 40-something woman who has had lap band surgery and is “hot” for the first time, the 20-something guy who is turned on by her imperfections and a 50-something gay actor who is both thrilled and devastated with he’s cast in a great role -- playing a grandfather.
