WAEN Celebrates Black History Month with an Interview with Alia J. Daniels
We Are Entertainment News is celebrating Black Excellence in the entertainment industry with an interview Alia J. Daniels, co-founder and COO at Revry.
In this interview, Alia reflects on her accomplishments and future plans for the streaming platform. Emphasizing underrepresented voices in the queer community such as Trans, POC, and Women, Alia hopes that Revry can be a place where everyone can see themselves represented in media.
“My life mission is to create avenues for authentic intersection representation in entertainment and business. That is a mouthful, but what it means is to create space for people to show up as themselves.”
Alia closes it off by saying that diversity and inclusion aren’t simply only in front of the screen, but behind the screen as well. Representation isn’t limited to what the viewers are seeing, but also writers, producers, directors, etc. Some questions she brings up are: “Does the Director of Photography have experience shooting and lighting for a range of skin tones, including and especially darker tones. Who is in the writer’s room? Do you have Black hair and make up artists?”
Revry is a platform for everyone to join together and be authentically themselves, embracing all identities and stories. Co-founder Alia J. Daniels is making sure to stay true to those values on Revry, currently amplifying voices of Black creatives for Black History Month and following it up with highlighting queer women for Woman’s Month in March. And there’s even more to come!
